Wedgewood Pharmacy’s Fenbendazole Powder
Fenbendazole is a broad spectrum methylcarbamate benzimidazole anthelmintic that treats a wide range of parasites. It acts by blocking the parasites ability to produce energy which eventually starves and kills them. It is also effective in killing immature forms of the worm including eggs and larvae. It is used to treat and prevent intestinal parasites in horses, dogs, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. It is also used to treat respiratory nematodes and lungworms in livestock. Fenbendazole can be administered orally in the form of granules, powder, liquid or chew and is typically given with food to reduce stomach upset.
Wedgewood Pharmacy’s fenbendazole powder is a convenient way to administer the medication. It comes in a palatable flavoring and is easily mixed into your horse’s feed to help eliminate gastrointestinal upset. Fenbendazole is available by prescription in a variety of dosage forms and strengths for equine use.
A recent study compared the performance of cow-calf pairs treated with ivermectin or fenbendazole, and not treated, for gastrointestinal nematode infestation. Cow and calf weights, body condition scores and fecal egg counts (FEC) were recorded at treatment and 28 day intervals. Overall, treatment with either fenbendazole or ivermectin did not result in a significant advantage over the untreated control. However, it is important to note that this trial was small and the sample size may not have been large enough to detect a difference between these 2 commonly used anthelmintics. Also, a difference between the persistence of activity of fenbendazole and that of ivermectin could have contributed to these findings. fenbendazole powder
